Baby Mobile

I loved designing Melissa's baby mobile for her nursery. At the time I just got my sewing machine, so I was very excited to put it to work. I designed my own pattern for the birds and the hearts and freehand machine stitched each piece. The hearts were actually a little tedious since I added a top stitch border once the stuffing was in place, and it was a bit difficult getting the stuffed hearts through my machine, but after a few finger wounds from the needle and the foot, it worked out well. Instead of stitching the ribbon on to the stuffed pieces I decided to glue them on with my fav. the glue gun. It was super fast and did the trick. I bought artificial flower bunches from Joanne's and just pulled off the head of each flower to go on to the wreath. I wrapped the wreath with a small ribbon and then hot glued each flower on to the wreath. One of the hardest parts was getting the top ribbons even and the right length to hang properly, but it seemed to work out. I glued the underside of each ribbon also to the wreath. I finished the top with a little bit of fishing wire so that it would hang from a hook easily.
